本书遵循专业教学逻辑，在编写过程中采用了模块式结构，共分4个模块，分别是机电简介篇、机械加工篇、机电技术篇、机电应用篇。各模块之间既相互独立，又依次递进。全书共16个单元，每个单元包括课文（Text）和拓展阅读（Reading Material），可满足不同层次读者的阅读需求；难句注释与词汇分析（Notes），方便读者正确理解课文内容。书后附录中配有参考译文及词汇表，方便读者自学及复习。
本书可作为高等职业教育专科院校和技工院校机电类专业英语教材，也可作为机电技术培训教材，还可以供从事相关工作的工程技术人员参考。
