本年鉴是指中国农业，林业，畜牧业，渔业，土地开垦，农业机械，农产品加工，农业自然灾害等的发展和信息。自1985年以来，该书已经用中文和英文出版。
英文本主要以《中国农业年鉴2018》中文版为基础。该汇编是在农业和农村事务部的主持下，并得到有关部委和国家有关部门的协助。农业经济统计数据来自国家统计局，农业和农村事务部，国家林业草原管理局和海关总署等。
