顾雪梁主编的《英语报刊阅读及技能》涉及领域广泛，包括环境、农业、灾害、教育、科技、经济、文化、历史、家庭、体育、法律、社会、娱乐、策略、外交、军事、演讲和网络十八大类，尽量做到博览而聚焦，务实而适时。本书以每一大类为一个单元，每一个单元包含有两篇同一领域的短文，即Passage A和Passage B，而Passage A之后有Words and Expressions、Notes和Tasks三个部分，其中Tasks是为了检查学生是否已掌握所学内容，而Passage B之后则附有Words and Expression和Notes两部分。
