Ose，the birhplace of novelist Kenzaburo Ohe，is situated in a small valley surrounded by thick forests，and the site stretches on a gentle slope facing south。The school buildings are designed to keep the surrounding natural environment and the terrain intact。The Japanese style roofs with wooden trusses in the foreground and the metallic roofs comprising different elements in the back add diversity to the multi-layered facade。A clear distinction is made between the regular and the special classrooms in the floor plan，indicating that the school building is opened to the local community as well。
