富兰克林、罗宾逊、朱天曙主编的《中国神话传说(英文版)》从精神上的共通点出发，分类梳理了中国神话传说，条理明晰，结构均衡；又从文化角度进行解读，尤其注重从中西神话故事的对比中引发中西文化背景的对比。阐述了神话传说的特点，分别从宇宙与自然、民族与文明、英雄与灾难三个层面对中国神话传说进行了梳理，最后指出了神话传说对文化艺术与民族风俗的影响。
