根据“国示建设”方案及任务书中计算机重点专业的要求，在广泛、深入进行市场调研基础上，按照行业、企业对人才的需求，运用任务驱动教学方法，与企业共同开发编写了这本计算机英语教材《计算机英语》。

计算机科学技术的迅猛发展使它包含的学科越来越庞杂，知识更新的速度也越来越快。因此本书很难全面反映这一领域的基本框架和最新发展。尽管如此，在选材时，我们尽量按照“全面、新颖、实用、兴趣”的原则，选取了计算机硬件、软件、计算机网络、电子商务、数据库、信息安全、网页制作、计算机病毒及防御方法、计算机的发展及将来等方面的内容。
