本书选取100首唐诗绝句，翻译成英文之后，用汉语进行画龙点睛式的点评。英译力求用简洁生动的语言再现原诗的意境之美，简评则用精警的汉语进行随感式的议论，意在启发读者的想象力，激发读者的审美意识。

选诗的原则，尽量选为人少见的通俗易懂而又颇具艺术质量的诗作，再者，一诗人只选一首诗，以保证选诗适当的广泛性。
