本教材借鉴国外已经很流行的以话题为基础的英语教学，不同的专业可以选择不同的话题，教师可以从实际出发，根据需求确定以话题为基础的英语教学的内容，可以不断充实某个专业的以话题为基础的内容英语教学，还可以不断补充新内容，以及不断听取学生意见改进教学内容、更新话题。

本教材分（1）（2）两册，每册16个单元，本册第（2）册，书中在编排上尝试适合于以话题为基础的内容英语教学模式，每个大单元分为4个片段和2个链接：“文化链接”和“相关链接”。每个片段在内容上可以独立存在，它与其它片段在话题内容上有关联，有一定系统性；”链接”涉及了与话题有关的背景材料，当中有人文因素较强的故事性的文体可供阅读。

本教材是专门为高职高专商务英语专业学生精心编写的。由著名英语专家主编，高职商务英语教学一线骨干教师、本科商务英语教学专家、英语语言教育专家和企业商务英语培训教师联袂编写，并由外籍商务英语专家审定把关。本教材有以下特点：
