上海简称“沪”，亦名“申”。位于北纬31°14′，东经121°29′，地处中国东海岸的中点，是长江流域的门户。上海四季分明，气候宜人，平均气温16℃左右，平均降雨量在1594毫米左右。

上海是中央直辖市，全市总面积6341平方公里，人口1600多万。上海是中国经济、金融、贸易、航运中心城市和综合性工业基地、上海也是中国历史文化名城。
