苗族史诗，又称为苗族古歌，是流传于苗语黔东方言区，以五言为基本句式，以盘歌（问答对唱）为主要演唱形式，叙述开天辟地、铸日造月、人类万物产生、洪水滔天、民族迁徙等内容，内部篇章有着紧密逻辑联系，具备神话史诗性质的苗族民间“活形态”押调文学作品。本书收录《金银歌》《古枫歌》《蝴蝶歌》《洪水滔天》《溯河西迁》五则苗族史诗，苗文、汉文、英文三文对照。
