本书采用案例分析探究八组在美华人家长对于孩子“幼小衔接”的感知以及参与,包括身体健康与动作技能、情感与社会性、言语、学习方式与认知与一般知识这五个方面。这八组家庭分为两组,一组是到美学习或访学的华人家庭,另一组是移民美国的华人家庭。本书对去美国求学以及访学的华人家庭提供一些建议,并提供家长参与的新模式。中华文化走出去有很多路径,本书研究的在美华人家长参与教育模式对中国文化的继承及传承有深远意义。
