《大学英语长篇阅读》分为上、下两册，本书是其中的上册，由雷晴岚主编。本书由8个单元组成。每个单元有4篇文章，练习形式与大学英语四、六级考试长篇阅读题型紧密结合，每篇文章除了段落匹配题外，还设计有单项选择题和信息填充题。学生通过对英语语言材料的学习，开阔视野，熟悉和掌握阅读技能，同时还能熟悉和掌握新题型的要求，使学生在愉悦的阅读中，增强学习兴趣，逐步提高阅读能力及英语语言的应用能力。
本教材适用于各类高校的大学一至四年级学生，可作为课堂教材或自学材料。
