赵永生主编的《大学英语诵读》共选文64篇，共计32个单元，每个单元由A、B两篇选文组成。每位编者分别承担4个单元的编写任务。考虑到每个学期有16个教学周，每周可安排诵读两篇文章，教师可按两个学期的教学工作进行安排。遵照循序渐进的原则，本书从短小、简单的诗歌、故事开始，逐步过渡到较长的文章。既有大家耳熟能详的寓言故事，也有透彻人生的思辨哲言。相信通过本书的学习，学习者一定会体验到英文的美，逐渐喜欢上英语，进而在英语学习上取得更好的成绩和更大的进步！
